One of the lighter moments on forthcoming debut longplayer ‘Understanding Electricity’, ‘The Girl From the BBC’ may or may not be about a real encounter at said institution, and is described by the band as ‘the dream of a perfect romance’.

Already a live anthem with its chant-along chorus, the track begins with a treated piano (a technique borrowed from Brian Wilson) before swiftly kicking in full-pelt. Synths, guitars, brightly-toned lead vocals, harmonies and a backbone of tight disco-funk in disguise are enhanced by crisp production. Self-produced B-side ‘Something That You Want’ highlights the band’s versatility, turning their hand to something akin to the Velvets doing baggy.
