This is a 12 track album from One Little Indian new signing's Songdog. The band consists of Lyndon Morgans (vocals, acoustic guitar and songs), Karl Woodward (electric guitars, mandolin, banjo, harmonica and keyboards) and Dave Paterson (drums, keyboards and percussion). Lyndon and Karl are from Blackwood in South Wales and Dave is from Dundee. They met up in London and self-released Songdog's debut album "The Way Of The World" in 2001, followed by "Haiku" in 2003 on Evangeline Records. Lyndon reveals his influences include Leonard Cohen, James Joyce, Joni Miitchell, Samuel Beckett, Tom Waits, Marcel Proust, Bob Dylan... Press Quotes "...dislocated, defiant and erotic songs that echo [their] principal influences - Brel, the Beat poets, Dylan, Leonard Cohen - without compromising the often startling origniality of [their] own vision." - Uncut "It's often been said that if Dylan Thomas had been born a generation later, he'd have ended up writing lyrics for a rock band. Songdog mainman Lyndon Morgans is far too modest to put himself in the same league as the legendary Welshman, but he hails from the same part of the world, and when he's not working with his Welsh trio he's pursuing a parallel career as a playwright/novelist. "One Day..." is the opening track from the band's first album for One Little Indian, and is typical of the record's juxtaposition of profound ideas and affecting stories set against the most delicately formed musical backdrops." - Uncut Please note this release is on pre-order and will be dispatched ahead of the official release date of 27.06.05 For more information, visit this artist's webpage at indian.co.uk |
